Unboxing the Nintendo Switch 2: The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition
Athmaus · October 31, 2026
Here’s my Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 unboxing, from the anniversary box to the green controllers and the first setup screens. I filmed the process so you can see the details up close, without having to rely on product photos alone.

The Zelda anniversary packaging
I start with the front of the box. There’s a red Nintendo Switch 2 strip across the top, a large gold Zelda logo, and a green-and-gold 40th anniversary badge. Below that, the product picture puts the green Joy-Con 2 controllers beside the console and the gold-patterned dock.
The box sets out the visual theme before anything comes out of the packaging: dark backgrounds, green controllers, and gold triangular artwork. If you’re comparing editions, those are the details to look for in this footage.
Opening the box
After opening it, I work through the individually wrapped pieces. The green controllers come out first for a closer look, followed by the main console. I turn the hardware in my hands rather than only showing the front of the box, so the video gives you a better look at what is actually inside.
I also lift the upper packaging and show the lower compartment with the remaining wrapped accessories. This is a quick unboxing rather than a complete accessory checklist, so I’m keeping the written rundown to what I show clearly: the two controllers, the console, and the packaging underneath them.
Green Joy-Con 2 and the Zelda details
The green finish is visible on both controllers, with dark buttons and sticks against it. In the close-up, you can also see a small gold Triforce detail near the bottom of one controller. It’s a useful part of the unboxing if you want to judge the color from real footage rather than a store listing.
The gold triangular design on the dock is shown prominently on the box. I don’t give that artwork the same separate close-up as the controllers in this clip, so the packaging image is the clearest reference here. The main console itself appears dark when I lift it from its wrapping.
A first look at setup
Toward the end, I power the system on and show part of the initial setup, including the internet connection screen. That’s where this first look ends. I haven’t included gameplay comparisons, battery measurements, or extended use in this video.
What this unboxing tells you
For Zelda fans, the main things to see here are the anniversary presentation and the green-and-gold design details. You can follow the opening sequence and see the controllers outside their wrappers. For a purchase decision based on performance or long-term comfort, this short clip only covers the starting point.
